Established in 1994, the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA) is a collaborative effort of human resources associations from across Canada, which represents more than 41,000 professionals, 21,000 of whom hold the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. The CCHRA is the national voice on the enhancement and promotion of the profession across Canada, through established and credible designations, collaborating on national issues related to the profession, leading federal government relations, and proactively positioning the national human resources agenda at the international level. We are seeking a unique and highly skilled individual to assume the responsibilities of Executive Director.
Located in our national office in Ottawa, Ontario, this experienced, business-minded individual will help us bring awareness of the profession and the designation to the next level. Working with the Board of Directors and association executives from across Canada, you will be responsible for providing superior customer service to provincial member associations and for building strong relationships with all stakeholders. The incumbent will ensure the Council effectively implements the Board approved Strategic Plan and will function as the official CCHRA spokesperson and chief representative on operational matters. Participation in Strategic Planning as well as possessing sound operational, financial management and communication practices are key elements of the role.
Prospective candidates should have an undergraduate degree (preferably a graduate degree) in business, social sciences or administration and have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible senior management experience in a related field. Strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work across all levels within the Council are critical, as is the ability to effectively and diplomatically respond to sensitive issues and complex inquiries. Demonstrated knowledge of good governance practices, along with planning skills (strategic, operational, financial) are required. Experience in the Human Resources profession, and possession of a CHRP or CAE designation would be definite assets. Bilingualism (English and French) would also be an asset.
