Chief Executive Officer
Katimavik is celebrating its 33rd anniversary as Canada’s premier national youth service program. It offers young Canadians an opportunity to contribute to the sustainable development of communities across Canada through challenging, volunteer service opportunities. Through a rigorous six or nine month journey of community service, structured learning programs and group living, we aim to grow responsible citizens and help community-based organizations deliver much needed services in areas such as the environment, education, health and recreation. Funded by the federal government, nearly a thousand young Canadians enter the program every year to work full-time for non-profit organizations, living in and contributing to dozens of communities throughout Canada.
We are seeking an experienced, progressive and dynamic individual to lead this exceptional national organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization in line with the strategic direction set by the Board. (S)he will oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of Katimavik’s programs and services, act as the spokesperson for the organization and work with government and communities across Canada to enhance and grow our profile.
The ideal candidate will have broad understanding and knowledge about Board governance and performance and will know how to utilize the skill sets and experience of Board members. Also essential, is demonstrable experience in strategic planning and in implementing a successful funding diversification plan, and possessing a passion and drive for the vision and mission of Katimavik. You will posses superior general management credentials in operations, finance, human resources, communications, team building and collaboration.
