Commonwealth Games Canada (CGC) is an active, contributing member of the Canadian elite-sport community committed to strengthening sport in Canada and throughout the Commonwealth. CGC occupies an important position within the Canadian sport landscape rooted in its innovative, values-based and athlete-centered approach to policy and decision-making. Responsible for ensuring Canada’s successful participation in the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games, our Board has also ensured that CGC’s International Development through Sport activities reflect an orientation and commitment to the strengthening of civil societies that sport affords.
We are seeking an experienced, progressive and dynamic individual to lead this exceptional, national multi-sport organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization in accordance with the strategic direction established by the Board. The CEO oversees CGC’s programs and services, acts as its spokesperson and works with the sport community, government, stakeholders and sponsors to enhance and grow the organization and its profile.
The ideal candidate will have a passion and drive for the vision and mission of CGC, demonstrable experience in strategic planning and execution, and success in revenue generation through the development of sponsors and partnerships. An appreciation of the complexities of the preparation, support and management of a Commonwealth Games Team, the challenges of bidding for and hosting a major international Games in Canada, and the partnership and delivery intricacies of international development programs is highly desirable. A superior track record in general management and recognition of the importance of communications and marketing are required. Experience in the international arena and communication skills in both official languages is an asset.
